I thought for sure a bunch of readers would have chimed in last week, “Hey, a nun! There was a nun in this comic previously! That must be so-and-so!” For those of you that just now realize who she is… too late! No Kick Points! Grayhawk already said her name and order.
And for those of you that still don’t know who she is, your homework is to read every episode from the beginning. I’ll give you a hint. The first episode that she appeared in, was also the very first page that I drew using Clip Studio Paint rather than the freeware program Paint.net. The line work actually improved a great deal from that page forward. It’s almost like it was divinely inspired.
I’ve subdued the color palette a bit and darkened the page to go for a more somber tone. Also trying for more dramatic camera angles. Why? Because… demons! There is demonology afoot! This is serious business!
Let’s see where this goes. And where is Kickman? Where is Blush? Where is Java???
DUN-dun-DAAAAAHHHHH
Calling it now: in a striking departure from the storyline alluded to in the previous page, she isn’t his mother. (I hope I don’t get negative Kick Points for this one. Just couldn’t resist.)
Dear Author: do I get to reveal the chapter and page where Elizabeth appears? (Unless I’ve missed her somewhere earlier, that is.)
Funny detail about the net from Grayhawk’s belt. Nicely done. (And the theory I made up on the previous page already shows holes: he didn’t use up all his items against Supreme Leader.)
Speaking of which, does the last line imply that the Supreme Leader is a demon? Sure looks the part.
Also, the backgrounds are sparse but the details are nicely done.
Last, very good close-up in the last panel. Great dramatic effect.
Oh, and in the fourth panel, I’m a bit surprised that Elizabeth’s line ends with a question mark. I’d have expected a more definitive full stop, or an exclamation point if she really felt strongly about it.
(Make of that what you will, including deleting this post if it is irrelevant. That’s why I posted it separately.)
Oh. Whoops, yeah that’s a typo…?
I’m going to go for the wild long shot guess here and say that in one hell (he) of a callback, this is the return of Name Pending (maybe Inferno), who was last seen in Superiority Complex #2, being summarily dispatched by Superior Man after musing about going for a “more generic devil name”. Maybe he made a deal with the devil in the meantime to acquire demonic powers or status, since Kickman and Generic Kung-fu Superhero Sidekick (at the time) forgot to arrest him (Superiority Complex #16).
Funny you should mention him! He’s not the bad guy that skewered Grayhawk, but he will (kind of) make an appearance next page. Or maybe in two pages, let me check my notes.
Impressive memory, there!
okay, is it just me or is Grayhawk’s hair growing in this strip? Panel 1 he’s got full forehead exposure, panel 4 starting to grow bangs and by panel 6 they’re practically down in his eyes
The way I see it, it could very well be that they’re still combed back in the first panel (and held there because his head is resting), then he raises his head a bit in the fourth panel, so they start falling to his brow, and he raises his head some more and they fall all over his brow.
Do you think it’s a satisfying interpretation?
That’s what it’s supposed to be. The entire Team Kick has been having hair issues ever since arriving in Villain City and living underground. Grayhawk has been slicking his hair straight back because it’s been too long for his signature bangs. They need to rescue a stylist stat!
So is Greyhawk Finally going to teach her enough D&D so she stops making errors identifying vampires?
Every gamers’ dream girl. Big bust, tight leather outfit, AND plays D&D? I think that’s flying too close to the sun.
Flying to close to the sun? D&D’ers ARE Vampires? Am I reading that right?
Here we go!
