Hopefully, I’ll stay on schedule for the next few weeks. Almost to the end of this chapter, and our heroes can get back into superheroics for a bit. Unless some other weird diversion happens before they get the opportunity.

This is an unhealthy dynamic. A powergamer out of control and a Fracas Ref who seeks to kill the party. You’re Doing It Wrong.
Games like this are supposed to be about the story that people tell together, with a system of rules to keep things interesting. Even the rules are supposed to be negotiable, so long as everyone understands them – though they need to be fair. A PC making Deity is stupidly rare, a healthy dynamic would have a celebration and the DM rising to the challenge.
I don’t think the ref was trying to kill the party; they were obviously going to get a quest to stop the meteor from falling. Minor Spoiler just exploited his power to gain godhood at the expense of everyone else’s characters. Generally a PC becoming a deity isn’t going to be celebrated if it’s caused by the player sacrificing everyone else to do so.
Well said!
Well I love it. The sceme, the emotions, the flow. Thank you for the treat. The final joke with the fracas card blocking an outside super-power from a game related divination was an exquisite delicacy. Awesome.
And YOU Marvin, might need to tone down the sanctimonious contempt – it’s fine to have an opinion, but just because the sage and MS the Squidgod both died does not make you the new big cheese. And it’s ok if you don’t get the Marvin reference – many people wouldn’t.
P.S. I’m having a possible Hitchcock fridge moment here – wouldn’t the protection from divination block MS from having insight leading to Sir Stronglegs kicking the Sage?
Protection from divination might prevent Minor Spoiler from seeing it with his precognition, but it’s not a secret that Stronglegs will kick anything given provocation.
Sorry for being a Fracas nerd – wouln’t SS be somewhere under/around etc the rock that might be miles in diameter, and MS teleported back to somewhere that is most possibly in the middle of the comet?
No, I don’t get the reference. He planeshifted for ten minutes, which is what Mystic Slideways does.
The only Marvin I can think of is the Paranoid Android of Hitchhiker fame – but I’m not depressive or complaining of diode-ache, so I have to assume you have another meaning in mind. *That* Marvin would very definitely complain about the game not challenging his planet-sized brain, rather than enthuse.
Has someone picked up a hitchhiker?
