He’s been flying through space without food and water for about a month. Luckily, he managed to surround himself with a life-support cocoon before blasting out of the satellite headquarters. So as long as the glowing, green, wish-granting fairy stayed alive, so did he. Think I’m ret-conning that? Nope. Check it out, Chapter 20, page 11. See? He’s totally still got his green aura around him!
Current roster: Blue Bat, Aquarium, Green Ring, Kickman, TBA, Turbofist, and Blue Streak.
Possibly: Invisibully, Cut Lass, and Blue Tick.
No way in Hell: Tri-Color.
Next week: More shocking news!
I should have said something. I knew that what happened to Green Ring would not have killed his ur-version because of the above explanation. I was just enjoying the idea of Matt gaining the ultimate Swiss Army Knife of powers. 🙂
Also, love the lamp-shaded bit about the missing crottles. 🙂
I have no idea what this sentence means… 😐
Lampshading is hiding an anomalous bit, like breaking the fourth wall or characters being aware of the artwork, by actually drawing attention to it. Like the guy at the party who thinks his girlfriend won’t recognize him because he’s wearing a lampshade. 🙂
Crottles are one of the cartoon art conventions named by Mort Walker back in the 70s, I think. Crottles are crosses on the eyes, plewds are sweat drops flying off the character, spurls are the spirals above the head (or in the eyes) to show someone is dizzy, nauseated, unconscious or drunk. Grawlixes indicate swearing. A swallop is the arc you draw to show the path of a fist.
Mort had a couple dozen or so of them and his little book describing them is hilarious. 🙂
Ah, cool! Thanks for the cartoon linguistic jam session. 3 Kick Points for Joyce for educating the masses and myself!
Thanks!
Also, Matt is waaay better at being Green Ring than Green Ring is! He’s going to have to go back to ninja-ing.
Yeah, Matt has an imagination and a ton of willpower. Green Ring just has the willpower.
Who is TBA? Also did we meet Cut Lass yet or is she new?
TBA (to be announced) is Sidekick Matt until he comes up with a new name. He’s been too busy of course, reeling in supers from space and organizing the takedown of Superior Man.
Technically, I guess everyone else is also TBA unless they’re in the first list.
Cut Lass appeared in a single frame in Chapter 10: The Pruning, page 4. She was sitting at the bar chatting with our heroes. That was also the first appearance of Turbofist.
Blue Tick also appeared only in a single frame along with about a dozen other heroes during the coffee shop brawl in Chapter 8: The Internship, page 13. He’s attached to the ceiling not doing anything.
I get it, Cut Lass is a pirate-themed girl with lots of defined muscles, and Blue Tick…clings to things? Is his first name Velcro? He looks like a Walter Lantz drawing. Heck, he looks like Water Lantz!
Cut Lass was also in Hero Mixer no.22
And Superior City 4
Dang, someone’s done their homework. I actually had zero recollection of using Cut Lass that many times. I think when I just needed an extra for the background I just grabbed her because she’s easy to draw….
6 Kick Points to Rick Rude, Jr for serving as an awesome dramaturge. 3 points for each spot!
