How bad a power gamer is he? Stay tuned.
Just a reminder that we’ve got guest sidekicks visiting from other comics:
Pogo, from Adamant.
Frank, from Wonder Weenies.
Minor Spoiler, from The Hero Business.
Be sure to visit their comics. Also, be a doll and turn off your ad blocker and click on a bunch of their Google ads. It’s against the rules for them to ask you to click on their Google ads. Just do it. They didn’t ask. Also you may as well go to my Patreon page and become a Kick Supporter. Do it! Before I have to get Psi Hawker out here to mentally compel you…
“How bad a power gamer is he?”
Wait. . . what kind of bad are we talking here? Are we talking that he is great at it and breaks the game. Or are you we asking just how badly can he do it while still technically being a total power gaming munchkin. Because the later sounds like it could get real annoying.
We’ll see soon. But if Sidekick Matt, master tactician that he is, is worried about him at the gaming table… it could be bad….
Well as long as it doesn’t get Abserd, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZCIh_3b5K8, I think we can manage to roll with the punches.
Abserd does not seem broken… except socially.
They also should have been able to tell by his comments. He knows that the trident build is more optimal than the spear build, so he approves of Pogo picking it. From what little we’ve seen, Pogo’s character seems to be the most effective, and is likely the kind of character Kickman would play. He likes Frank’s pick of character, and assumes based on how he would build a bear berserker that he should be capable of fighting a tier of enemies higher than the actual character can. He doesn’t like Minor Spoiler’s spells since too much diversity makes his spells lack power. This doesn’t bother Spoiler since he’s either not too familiar with the mechanics or doesn’t care, based on how he played the first encounter.
I wonder what kind of character Kickman will play? I doubt he’ll play a tank since he knows the party has one (although his character will probably still be unkillable), and Pogo’s got melee dps down it seems. I’m guessing either some kind of absurd ranged character that gets crit headshots all the time and can dodge basically any magic that might be able to target him directly, or he’ll be a mage to compensate for Spoiler’s lack of raw power, and every time Spoiler chips a guy with a spell, Kickman will chain lightning to kill that target and one-shot the two behind it.
Although I just realized that I misread that earlier page; Minor Spoiler didn’t aim because he thought it would work, he did it because his precognition told him he’d crit fail if he rolled anything, and opted to burn his turn instead.
Makes you wonder if Minor Spoiler’s eclectic spell selection is based on “diversity” or on his precognition telling him which spells will be essential.
