Seriously, nobody saw that one coming? Don’t make me get the Quicksilver GIF back out.
That shot in panel 6 is another moment stolen from a mainstream comic, but it was NOT Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. I will give five Kick Points to the nerd that identifies where it came from. Hint: It was also written by Frank Miller.
Speaking of Kick Points… All those un-named C-list villains from 2 weeks ago are back! And they’ve got names, baby! From left to right in the strip above, here are their new names:
- Frau Furcht (aka Madame Fear), by Xavier (could also be Ms. Dread)
- Stylus, by Sabrina Pandora
- Red ‘Riff, by Baufenbeast
- Bank Shot, by Archives
- Slitherlocks, by Cat Man
- Foursight, by Archives
- Devil Fairy, Baufenbeast
So congratulations! 5 Kick Points for each foster villain that you’ve adopted. I will also let you decide how they get killed in the next page! Kidding, kidding… They will no doubt have long villain lives and will make you proud to bear your name. Be sure every couple weeks to come back and loudly demand that your foster villain appear in the next Kickman strip. Or maybe in The Real Superheroines of Hive Valley… or God forbid, Java Jaguar.

Slitherlocks so needs to be in Java Jaguar! Just have a gamer convention in town and it wrtes itself.
Did Cat Man outsource you to be Slitherlocks’ agent? Glad to see you taking an interest in his foster villain. 🙂 It takes a village to raise a villain!
Mind blown! Nope, did NOT see it coming! Most excellent use of drama and deception as psychological warfare.
Indeed! Kickman, LLC is Psyops-ing the crap out of this city of villains.

Well I don’t know. I (pretend to) have a life.
You could check Frank Miller’s comic credits on the intrawebs and make a guess. It is 5 whole Kick Points!
But, But, won’t I lose snark points if I do?
And I can’t risk opening up my Graphic Novel addiction again. It gets expensive.
You can never lose Snark Points! They are minted NFTs forever forged into the blockchain.
Hi! Long-time fan, first-time commenter on this awesome webcomic!
And then just to say:
1) This webcomic is one of the smartest super hero stories I’ve ever read, and I’m fan of both Kurt Busiek and Alan Moore.
2) Panel 6 reminds me of Melvin Potter’s last line (that I remember) during Daredevil: Born Again.
Welcome, jd.!
1) Thank you for your praise. Webcomic creators essentially live off of it, and
2) Ding! Ding! Ding! That’s it! jd. in his debut appearance in the comments section coming out strong with a 5 Kick Point win! FYI, if any of you have NOT read Daredevil: Born Again, it is not too late. Buy it now! (Or, pirate it now).
About Daredevil: Born Again, I’ll say this: I’m not a big fan of Frank Miller. I found The Dark Knight Returns to be an acquired taste (and it took effort and a lot of urging from a friend who was a fan), that went double for the sequels, I don’t really like what he did to Elektra (so he creates her, then he kills her, then he resurrects her and kills her again in the same arc), though I’m certainly a fan of her original run, and while I’m awed by the power and subtlety of some panels in Sin City, on the whole the violence of it upsets me quite a bit.
But the Born Again storyline is an exceptional story. Characters whom we are used to see as positive deviating from their usual role *for*a*good*reason* (not just because someone wants to contrive an excuse to make Cyclops or Moira MacTaggert a villain), villains who plan and plot and act intelligently (at least from their point of view, for some), secondary characters who have enough space to be memorable…
Disney is planning a new 18-episode season of Daredevil to do the Born Again story arc. I’m torn between anticipation and anxiety for that.

HISSS! THROW HIM TO JAVA JAGUAR FOR SUCH BLASPHEMY!!!*
*Java Jaguar probably agrees….
Your writing really is nigh impossible to predict, as far as I remember, only Joyce can do it.
(And I’ve bloody tried man! We all have! You’re really good at crafting narrative)
Also Woo! Two for the win!!
Doug in accounting is usually pretty good at anticipating plot twists… 🙂
Still want to know who Dough picked in the Mindy vs. Mary fan service mud fight….
Everyone here has been following that, right?
So panel 6 Actual reminds me of Valentin Zukovsky line in goldeneye.
Hmmm, I never saw Goldeneye. Might have to check it out over the weekend.
