The perceived decrease in demand for superheroic action appears to be because of an oversaturated market as much as, if not more than, the decrease in supply of crime. The “pruning” is the natural movement of the hero economy toward equilibrium, but this equilibrium has higher unemployment.
That means that the solution here is either federal superhero benefits or government-sponsored crime.

Well it’s not so much a decrease in crime, but a decrease in “super” crime. And since “super” crime is based on superficial definitions, it’s actually not an economic problem so much as a semantics problem. If only this were a problem that could just be kicked…
